Durability
All winter, through two blizzards, strong winds, and many storms, the empty wasp nest survived in this tree in the park. I took this picture the day after park maintenance took down about 15 limbs on trees around the park near my house. Yet through the snow, rain, wind, and cold the nest remained. Empty but strong. A testament to the resiliency and strength of nature. It’s hard to not be impressed.

You never know -- some wasps may have survived in there. Several years back I took a much smaller wasp's nest that I was sure was empty to my mom's house so her grandson (my nephew) that she took care of while my sister was at work could "explore"it. Lo and behold, after being in the house all winter about half a dozen wasps came out of it. Oops!
